The "Barry Hospizbernhardiner e.V." association
The “Barry Hospizbernhardiner e.V.” association was created at the beginning of December 2014 and we are delighted to be able to support the Barry Foundation from Germany.
We help the Foundation to search for active and/or passive sponsoring members and/or benefactors who want to contribute to safeguarding the continued existence of the Saint Bernards from the Great Saint Bernard pass.
Unfortunately, there are not yet enough people in Germany who realise that the dogs from the Great Saint Bernard pass originally looked quite different from the Saint Bernards that people here recognise today from the television. After all, the dogs have been in existence for over 300 years. And hardly anybody has heard the legendary story of Barry.
Time and time again, people ask us whether our dogs have been shorn or even "What sort of breed is that?"
Just as little is known about the social characteristics of Saint Bernards, and as the Barry Foundation is eager to put more and more dogs into use in social occupations, we would like to try and offer financial support to such activities and extend them to Germany.
Thanks to the number of sponsoring members who have already joined us – and due to the donations we have received following a mailing campaign – we have already met with a positive response and hope to be able to find additional benefactors in Germany who will help us to continue to support the valuable work of the Barry Foundation. In doing so, we hope to endear the original Saint Bernards to the hearts of many people in Germany.
Please feel free to consult our homepage (available in German) – we look forward to your visit!
