In mid-June, some of the Barry Foundation's dogs reached the Grand-St-Bernard pass, at an altitude of 2,473 metres. They will remain there until September. The exact date when the dogs will no longer be present at the pass depends on the weather conditions.
The presence of the dogs in the place that gave the breed its name is firmly anchored in the mission of the Barry Foundation. Visitors to the pass can tour the kennels, then discover the Musée de l'Hospice du Grand-St-Bernard, which traces the history of the pass from ancient cults to modern-day hospitality.
